  • Hi, congrats on the promising results. I’d like to ask if you have evaluated whether cancer cells use lipids deriving from OA treatment as mitochondrial fuel or they only accumulate lipid droplets. Is the cancer cells metabolism changed? Thanks

  • Thanks a lot for your comment!
Yes, we are working on it, we have tested exogenous FAs treatment in combination with lipid metabolism inhibitors as Etomoxir, Ranolazine or Perhexiline. These treatments resulted in alterations in their metabolism because you are blocking FAO or lipid uptake, so they don’t metabolize more lipids and they accumulate it. This way, we are trying to study mitochondrial metabolism.
I invite you to visit the poster called “Lipid Metabolism supports the tumorigenic potential of Pancreatic Cancer Stem Cells” from our group which is the second part of this study.

    Thanks again!

  • OK, thanks a lot for your explanation!
